By scrounging through this bag of purple scraps and cutting 16 x 2" squares = 16 patch set in Sawtooth Star.
I had a little game of catch up with the 2" pink = February, that I
needed to get set into it's Sawtooth Star. Now I am caught up on the
Sawtooth Stars with 16 patch centres.
Thank You cards created with tiny purple 'sweaters' ready to give to travelers that will be traveling with us to Ireland in June 2015. Us = Celtic Quilt Tours.
And there was some time to get started on the next round of string blocks

For a ringside seat on what promises to be some very lovely purple entries please check out SoScrappy. I will also post to Oh Scrap! (there is some overlap - but all celebrating working with scraps).
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter.
Love and hugs
Kathy
I love your card. What a novel idea and perfect to give to travellers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, the cards (and a variation) have been used for the past 3 years for our travellers and they love them. It is so fun at the end of the tour to personalize a message for each one.
DeleteWe don't get many Crocuses here Kathy, but the Tibouchinas are out in flower at the moment, and they are very purple. They are absolutely stunning! If you feel like taking a look I did a blog post about them last year with a couple of photos here: http://patchingpixies.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/tibouchinas.html
ReplyDeleteYou've made some lovely progress on your purple blocks. Amazing what a tiny dent it makes on the scrap bag though isn't it?
Dasha...making a tiny dent..is the understatement of the month! But I do have all month to create string blocks, sugar bowls and maybe even try my hand at some majestic mountains...which have bee calling my name for a while. And WOW, that tibouchina is a burst of colour!
DeleteWhat a cute little sweater. Great start on the purples, looks like you still have plenty of scraps left to use though.
ReplyDeleteThank you Angela, that bag of scraps is just the tip of the iceberg. There is the potential for lots and lots of string blocks etc etc to come.
DeleteGreat Sawtooth Stars! I especially like your background fabrics. Neat sweater cards!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie, the w/b backgrounds are going to keep the quilt looking quite contemporary for years to come (or that is the hope). The sweater cards are as fun to give as they are to make.
DeleteWow you do have a huge back of purple scraps there!!
ReplyDeleteI do like your stars set with the 16 patch centre.
Those 16 patch centres are so gratifying to make. They have substance and colour and are full of potential to make into a stunning new quilt.
DeleteLove your RSC blocks. Your card is soooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I enjoy making them.
